This Darrell Stocks Memorial Scholarship will support one home/UK student studying an undergraduate course within Hospitality and Tourism, by giving £12,000 (£4,000 per academic year for up to three years of study).
Please note that funding for a Professional Training Year will not be given.
The terms of this scholarship are at the discretion of the donor and may be subject to change before awarding.
Eligibility criteria
To apply for this scholarship you must:
- Be a home/UK student
- Be a first-year undergraduate student beginning your studies in September 2026, studying either:
- International Event Management BSc
- International Hospitality Management BSc
- International Hospitality and Tourism Management BSc
- International Tourism Management BSc
- Have a household income of less than £40,000*.
*We will need to verify this through the Student Finance England portal and, for us to do so, you will need to do the following:
- Be in receipt of Student Loan support from Student Finance England/Student Loans Company
- Give permission for your household income information to be shared with the University of Surrey.
To do so, you can contact the Student Loans Company directly on 0300 100 0607 (open Monday - Friday, 8am - 7pm) and ask for your information to be shared with the University of Surrey.
Please note that this process can take several weeks to update, depending on how busy the Student Loans Company is, therefore we recommend updating your sharing permissions as soon as you submit an application, so as not to cause delays during the application review period).

To apply for this scholarship, please complete the application form by 5pm on Monday 30 November 2026.
Please allow up to one month after the closing deadline to hear back from the team regarding the outcome of your application.
During this time, the team may ask for further information or clarification on details you have shared – this is to gather information as part of the review process and isn’t an indication as to the success of your application.
