GREAT Scholarships

The GREAT scholarships offer tuition fee reductions of a maximum of £10,000 to students applying for one-year postgraduate courses here at the University of Surrey.

GREAT Scholarships 2026

In partnership with the British Council and the GREAT Britain Campaign, the University of Surrey is offering three £10,000 scholarships to students from India, Kenya and Spain (one per country) applying for one-year postgraduate courses at the University of Surrey starting in September 2026.

Eligibility

To be eligible you must:

  1. Be a passport holder and permanent resident of either India, Kenya and Spain
  2. Hold an unconditional offer for a full-time one-year postgraduate course
  3. Be starting in September 2026.

  • 1 x £10,000 scholarship for students from India
  • 1 x £10,000 scholarship for students from Kenya
  • 1 x £10,000 scholarship for students from Spain.

About GREAT scholarships

The GREAT Scholarships 2026 programme, launched by the British Council together with over 60 UK universities, supports postgraduate students from Bangladesh, China, Egypt, Ghana, India, Indonesia, Kenya, Malaysia, Mexico, Nigeria, Pakistan, Thailand, Turkey, and Vietnam in accessing world-class UK higher education opportunities.

The scholarship programme offers financial support of a minimum of £10,000 to students pursuing one-year postgraduate study in the UK. Students can apply for courses in a range of subjects, at over 60 institutions across England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.

Please note that applicants should be a target country passport holder who is also a permanent resident.
