Surrey team taking on Surrey half-marathon

A team of Surrey academics and students are set to take on the Surrey half-marathon to raise money for Age UK Surrey.

As part of the Surrey Healthy Ageing Research Partnership (SHARP) initiative at the University of Surrey, the team have been training hard, whilst also continuing their pivotal work in improving the wellbeing of older adults through their research.

Dr Natalie Riddell, a Senior Lecturer in Immunology and Ageing, said:

“Taking on this challenge has been an enormous undertaking, and I am so proud of how far we have all come with our training.

“Age UK Surrey is a fantastic charity, and we are delighted to be supporting them. We all get older, and it is important that us as researchers and charities like Age UK work together to ensure that we all age well.”

SHARP, which is in its ninth year, is an important outreach hub at the university and regularly runs activities to increase connection between researchers and older members of the community. Discussions focus on issues of healthy living in older age which help to shape the direction of research at the institution.
