Entry requirements

See our country-specific equivalencies.

Undergraduate

We consider a range of high school qualifications for entry onto our undergraduate courses.

If you do not meet the direct entry requirements for a course, you can apply to study an International Foundation Year programme at the University of Surrey International Study Centre. Upon successful completion, you can progress to an undergraduate degree at the University of Surrey.

Please email international@surrey.ac.uk for further advice on entry requirements.

Postgraduate

To enrol on a masters course at Surrey, you will need the equivalent of a 2:1 or 2:2 degree from a recognised university. If you would like advice on the requirements from the country in which you are studying, please email international@surrey.ac.uk.

Postgraduate pathway programmes

International students who do not meet the requirements for a postgraduate course have the opportunity to apply for a Pre-Masters Preparation Programme. These pathway programmes are offered by the University of Surrey International Study Centre and are designed in order to develop student’s academic and English language skills in preparation for postgraduate study.

Upon successful completion, students can progress to a Masters degree at the University of Surrey.

English language requirements

All our students need a good standard of English language to be eligible to study with us. See our accepted list of English language qualifications, visit our undergraduatepostgraduate taught and postgraduate research listings pages, and find your chosen course to view our specific requirements.

If you don’t meet our requirements, we offer intensive pre-sessional English language courses, designed to take you to the level of English ability and skill required for your studies. We are also a British Council accredited IELTS test centre.
