Dr Eirini Papageorgopoulou
About
Biography
Eirini is a Research Fellow A in Neurodevelopment and Quantitative Genetics. She holds a BSc in Early Childhood Education from the University of Patras, Greece, an MA in Special Educational Needs and Disabilities from the University of Birmingham and an MSc in Psychological Research Methods from Birkbeck. She completed her PhD in Psychology at the Centre for Brain and Cognitive Development, Birkbeck, where she investigated the early social environment and brain development in infants with an elevated likelihood of autism. During her PhD, she undertook a secondment at the University of Warsaw as a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Early Career Researcher, exploring the neural mechanisms underlying language development in infants with a high likelihood of autism. She subsequently joined King’s College London as a Postdoctoral Research Associate where she worked on the Brain Imaging for Global Health (BRIGHT-impact) study.
Eirini’s research focuses on understanding the developmental processes contributing to individual differences in developmental outcomes. In her current role, she investigates the neural basis and common genetic architecture of neurodevelopment in infancy and toddlerhood, with a particular focus on autism spectrum conditions.
