"I like that my course is 50 per cent maths and 50 per cent economics because there are skills I learn in economics modules which I can apply in maths modules and vice versa.

I also like that my course equips me with the skills required to follow my career aspirations. It’s refreshing to study two different subjects at once; if I need a break from studying my economics module I can switch to revising maths and vice versa.

The lecturers are passionate and know in depth about the topics they will be lecturing us on, hence, when we are learning about a topic, we learn the most up-to-date information. Students and staff in the School of Economics are friendly and welcoming. If you need any help, they are always there to help you.

I have been part of clubs and societies throughout my time at Surrey. Being involved in societies was a great way for me to meet new people. For me, living in University accommodation was also a great experience. My flatmates and I got on well and we did a lot of things together, such as taking part in the flat Christmas decoration contest held by the Students’ Union. Living in University accommodation also made it easier for me to get involved in society events which took place late in the evening.

Surrey Sports Park is one of the best things about Surrey. It has amazing facilities to accommodate all sports, and it’s a great way to play sports competitively or just for enjoyment with your friends. At Surrey, we are in the middle of Guildford town and close to Tesco, which makes accessing everything easy. We are also only a half hour train away from London, which is very convenient if you miss the city life. Surrey has beautiful scenery and I really like the fact that the University of Surrey is a campus-based university because everything I need is on site.

"I wanted to travel, learn about different cultures, as well as experience what it’s like to study at one of Asia’s top universities, the University of Hong Kong."

I studied abroad for a semester during my second year. I decided to take this opportunity because I wanted to travel, learn about different cultures, as well as experience what it’s like to study at one of Asia’s top universities, the University of Hong Kong. One of the highlights of this experience was being able to make friends from around the world, travel and learn about different languages and cultures. I would recommend this experience to others because not only do you get to study in a different country, but you also get the opportunity to do things independently and grow as a person.
