"I really enjoy the research environment at Surrey. In my School there are many international students, which gives me opportunities to learn new perspectives from around the world."
"Before coming to the University of Surrey, I worked in the hotel industry in Thailand and recognised the growth of the events industry and the need for experts in this area. Consequently, I decided to come to Surrey because of its reputation for academic rigour in hospitality and tourism management. After studying at Surrey for my MSc in International Events Management, I knew that Surrey was the right place for me to pursue my PhD in this area.
The School of Hospitality and Tourism Management is very well known in hospitality, tourism and events with the outstanding range of academics and advanced learning facilities. Additionally, Guildfordis a very nice town and not too far from London. I really enjoy living in Guildford.
Studying at Surrey has been a wonderful experience for me. I’ve really appreciated all of the support provided at Surrey, such as the Researcher Development Programme and seminars that are available to help me to enhance my academic potential and become a more effective researcher after the programme.
I’m so lucky to be supervised by Professor Leo Jago and Dr Alkmini Gkritzali who have given me lots of support and have trusted me by investing their energy and attention for every project that I have done. Meanwhile, other academic staff within the School of Hospitality and Tourism Management are always available and very friendly.
My office and the Library are the main facilities I use at Surrey. I have spent most of my time so far in either of these two places. However, I like to go to Surrey Sports Park from time to time to keep myself fit and active.
I really enjoy the research environment at Surrey. In my School there are many international students, which gives me opportunities to learn new perspectives from around the world.
I have had opportunities to visit many places around the UK, including Portsmouth, Brighton, Cornwall, Cotswolds and Scotland. It’s very convenient to travel around the UK from Guildford. I also had the chance to visit Europe by train last year.
After I finish my PhD at Surrey, I plan to go back to my home country and continue my research. I would like to utilise all that I’ve learned at Surrey and apply and develop my research to be valuable both in academia and the events industry."
