I never planned to do a placement year or study abroad, but in my third year I did both. It was an awesome experience! I studied at Northern Arizona University. This was one of the best experiences in my life. Doing a placement in the UK also significantly helped me develop professionally: developing new skills, networking and having significant responsibilities. 

I'm so glad I chose this programme after lots of research. The department really lives up to its reputation and everyone has been so helpful and supportive in helping me improve week-by-week. The course is really well thought out and comprehensive too, so you're well prepared as you develop your knowledge and skills. The rose tinted glasses are well and truly off now when I consume media!

Going to Sydney was without a doubt the best six months of my life. I’ve always wanted to visit Sydney; the rest of Australia, so when I saw there was a six-month programme at Surrey, it was one of the driving factors in choosing Surrey Uni.

The amount of support that the employability team, professors, lecturers, and university staff provide the students here is amazing. I believe that Surrey is very “career-focused” and, as such, sees many of its students establish the foundations of successful careers here.

I enjoy the freedom of Literature that Surrey encourages, allowing me to explore various avenues such as creative writing, broadening my interests and skills.

The staff are insightful, supportive, and passionate about the subject they’re teaching. The way in which they arouse and sustain our intellectual curiosity, their dedication and professionalism are truly inspiring.

I was always determined to go study abroad and the main reason I choose Surrey was because of the study abroad option and the vast number of universities I could pick from.
