2nd BME Early Career Researchers - How to stay in academia?

After the first, very successful & inspirational well attended BME Early Career researchers (ECR) – How to stay in academia conference held April 19th 2017, we are very pleased to announce the second conference to be held April 3rd 2018 which also will be hosted by King’s College London at the Great Hall, Strand Campus, supported by Wellcome Trust and King’s Centre for Research Staff Development.

King's College London The Great Hall Strand, London WC2R 2LS

During the day, the morning session will have inspirational talks by BME ECR and Academics from various disciplines.

The keynote speaker for the day will be Ms Chi Onwurah, the Labour MP for Newcastle Central & Shadow Minister for Industrial Strategy, Science & Innovation.

The afternoon session will consist of workshops to encourage and nuture our talented BME researchers and signpost them to resources available, including the importance of accessing a good mentor and honing their networking skills. Applying for a fellowship is a key step in their career progression to build independence and a competitive edge in order to secure a lectureship and hence climb the academic ladder.

This event is targetted at PhD students who aspire for an academic career, postdoctoral researchers and recently appointed lecturers within the UK.

In the evening there will be networking on the terrace of Bush House from 5pm - 7pm.

It promises to be another spectacular empowering conference!
