Research Staff Celebration Week (19-23 November 2018)
The main aims of the Research Staff Celebration Week at Surrey are to raise the visibility and highlight the valuable contributions of research staff at the university, with a particular focus on our early career researchers.
Departments and researchers are encouraged to organise local events for their researcher community. We would also like to share research staff achievements and profiles. Please email email@example.com to share your events and researcher profiles through the Researcher Development Programme webpages, and to showcase our amazing researchers at The University of Surrey.
Professor David Sampson, Vice-Provost Research & Innovation: Statement of Support
"At Surrey, we value our postdoctoral researchers and recognise the vital role they play in driving our research. Providing strong support to postdoctoral fellows, early career researchers and research students are vital elements in our plan to scale up our research quantum and quality, important steps in our aspiration to be a world-leading, research-intensive university. We have an ambitious goal of doubling the number of research students and we will need concomitantly more research staff – especially fellows. Our vibrant research staff join us from around the UK and the world to provide their talent, knowledge and drive for research excellence and impact. Their support of our academics is critical as we strive to make a difference through our research – locally and globally.
In return, true to our values, we are committed to supporting our research staff – in their career development and in their research. Our Doctoral College offers a range of support and services including one-to-one coaching, workshops, mentoring programmes, and online courses, and, as well, supports the Surrey Research Staff Association (SuRSA). In 2018/19, we are growing the Doctoral College four-fold in recognition of the vital role it plays at the heart of the research endeavour. I hope that Surrey Research Staff Celebrated shines a light on the invaluable contributions made by our research staff to the University and, through their research, to our society, and how the University is seeking to enhance the development of their careers."
