Surrey Chambers of Commerce reveals 2016 top businesswomen list

This International Women’s Day Surrey Business School supported entrepreneurial potential and success at Surrey Chambers Business Women ‘Rising Star’ Awards, celebrating young business talent across the county.

Surrey Business School are proud sponsors of the Surrey Chambers Business Women in Surrey (BWiS) Awards. ‘We work to make sure every single student can graduate knowing their full potential and the benefits of a balanced workplace.’ Abi Bradbeer, Surrey Business School Manager. As we dedicate time to nurturing business ready brains of the future, we celebrated this International Women’s Day (8 March) supporting young female business women on the rise at a special flagship event.

This year it focused on the county’s younger (aged under 30) businesswomen, the ‘Rising Stars Young Business Women’. Emily Bollen who graduated in 2012 from Surrey was awarded as one of the top 10 ‘Rising Stars’. She is currently a Musical Director with 8 years’ experience of planting and developing community gospel choirs within the education, charity and public sectors.

Emily set up her company Motivation by Music, which connects communities and classrooms making gospel music accessible to everyone.

Held in Woking, attendees listened to inspiring words from guest speakers from Creative Nature, ADP UK, Miller Brands and recent MBA Business Breakfast panelist Pathfinder’s Jessica Van Thiel. Each shared their career journey and attributed much of their success to strong roles models – from family to bosses and colleagues – and sheer determination.
