Surrey Sports Park hosts Team GB skier

British alpine skier Chemmy Alcott visited the Surrey Sports Park for her final strength and conditioning session before flying out to Russia for the Winter Olympic Games.

Chemmy has been training at the University-owned Surrey Sports Park since 2012, working with head strength and conditioning coach James Wild. She is now competing at the Games Sochi as part of team GB.

Keep up-to-date with Chemmy’s progress on the BBC Sport website.

Chemmy, who recently made a comeback to skiing after breaking her leg in August, said: “This will be my fourth Olympics, but that doesn’t mean I’m any less excited. I’ve got a massive amount of maturity and experience and that’s really important going into an Olympic Games.”

The Surrey Sports Park is home to a number of elite athletes who utilise the services of the Surrey Human Performance Institute, as well as the Olympic-sized pool, gym and other training facilities.

The Park will also act as a training hub for students on our pioneering new Sport and Exercise Sciences degree, starting September 2014. Learn more about Sport and Exercise Sciences at Surrey.
