Wonderful Surrey prospectus named as one of the UK's best

The University of Surrey's 2013 undergraduate prospectus is officially ranked in the UK's top two.

Surrey now has another feather in its cap - the University's 2013 undergraduate prospectus (launched in Spring 2012 for the September 2013 intake) has been named as one of the top two in the country.

An expert panel from the HEIST Awards for higher education marketing gave silver to Surrey in the category of Best Undergraduate Prospectus. This was a notable success in a strong field of 13 nominees, including the universities of Cambridge, Nottingham and Leicester.

Receiving the prize from author and actress Meera Syal (first left) at the annual awards dinner in Manchester were Jean-Paul Lacey (Designer, second left) and Daniella Forte (Project Leader, centre).

"We took a significant change in direction with the 2013 undergraduate prospectus," commented Andy Blair, Head of Brand, Content and Creative. "We used much more colour and striking imagery to bring to life the new 'Wonderful things happen here' message, which really captures the spirit of Surrey. We also profiled our academics and research successes, and used key information and statistics to demonstrate our strengths in a clear and innovative manner.

"We are delighted to receive recognition for our work from a panel of higher education experts, but most importantly, this new approach to representing the University has contributed to around 30% more students applying to come here and large increases in Open Day attendance too. We hope to continue this success with the recently completed 2014 undergraduate and postgraduate prospectuses, which are even better than their predecessors."
