Immersive Mix Studio
The equipment and acoustic specification make is one of the best immersive music mixing rooms in the country.
This gives our students the opportunity to learn how to use the equipment, techniques, and workflows used widely in industry, and to fully explore the quality, subtlety, and emotional impact of sound in their work.
Studio equipment
The Immersive Mix Studio has been designed and built for music and media students on our Creative Music Technology, Music and Sound Recording, and Film Production and Broadcast Engineering degree programmes.
The Studio is equipped with:
- A Mac Pro running Pro Tools, Logic, and Reaper
- An Avid S6 console
- A 9.1.4 immersive audio loudspeaker setup using ATC loudspeakers, allowing mixing for Dolby Atmos and other immersive audio formats.
The installation includes a Dolby Home Entertainment Rendering and Mastering Unit and fully meets Dolby's Atmos Music specifications.
The Studio is mostly used to mix audio recorded elsewhere, for music production and post-production for film and TV. It is part of a larger networked audio setup, allowing connection with the Creative Music Technology Studio and TV Studio, and from there, across the Discipline’s fibre infrastructure to other spaces in music and media and more widely across campus, allowing it to be used for recording and live broadcasts.
