The event formally launched Dr Luigi Scazzieri’s recently published policy brief, Will EU enlargement shape the EU/UK relationship?. Dr Scazzieri is senior policy analyst (Defence) in charge of the Common Security and Defence Policy portfolio at the European Union Institute for Security Studies (EUISS).

The deputy director of CER, Ian Bond, chaired the event, which discussed how the EU's enlargement process will influence the way the Union thinks about relationships with its neighbours.

The room was full of insightful discussion and thoughtful debate on the future of UK-EU relations in a rapidly evolving Europe.

Professor Hadfield said:

“I was delighted to join eminent minds Ian Bond and Luigi Scazzieri for an engaging panel discussion exploring possible models of association with the EU, and how these might shape the UK's evolving relations with the EU. There was super discussion all around, and clearly an issue area that merits further investigation!”
