Prof Xavier Font participates in Prince Harry’s Travalyst sustainable travel coalition meeting

Travalyst is a not-for-profit organisation founded by the Duke of Sussex that is convening a global alliance of leading travel and tourism service providers. Surrey’s Professor Xavier Font has been advising the organization since its inception. The partners had an opportunity to meet in person during the Invictus Games in The Hague, also headed by Prince Harry.

Booking Holdings, Trip.com Group, Skyscanner, Tripadvisor, Google and Visa joined forces to promote sustainable travel in September 2019, with Google joining in 2021 and Expedia Group joining in April 2022. The first meeting of all these partners as Travalyst, together with its founder Prince Harry, took place during the Invictus Games in The Hague in The Netherlands.

The meeting allowed these arch-rival companies, the Travalyst secretariat and the Independent Advisory Group to join forces in identifying a joint sense of purpose.

Professor Xavier Font is part of the Independent Advisory Group for Travalyst, who have signed off on the sustainability frameworks to collect and display sustainability data for tourism accommodation (now implemented by Booking.com), and carbon emissions for aviation (now implemented by Skyscanner and Google).
