Surrey awards Covid-19 SME grants

The University of Surrey are pleased to announce the award of grant funding to 60 eligible SMEs.

A large number of high-quality applications were received, and the requests for financial support exceeded the funds available. Funding was awarded to all eligible applicants based on the Review Panel and the Funding Board’s assessment of the quality of the application, the level of alignment with the knowledge exchange and business growth objectives, and the proposed use of the grant.

The University will provide an update with examples on how the funding helped alleviate the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on our ecosystem.

About the grant

The University of Surrey Covid-19 SME Grant Scheme has been put in place to support our innovation ecosystem in this time of crisis and is specifically designed to support those SMEs who are engaging with us in innovation activity and contributing to economic development and prosperity in the region.

The scheme has been allocated £100,000 of funding and eligible SMEs were invited to apply for up to £5,000 of grant funding. The aid is granted under the State Aid de Minimis Scheme.
