Top two in the UK for Food Science

The University of Surrey has been named second best university in the UK for food science programmes in The Times/The Sunday Times Good University Guide 2015.

The result cements Surrey’s standing as a top ten university for programmes in the field of nutrition and food science – which include NutritionNutrition/DieteticsFood Science and Microbiology and Nutrition and Food Science – and follows a seventh place ranking in the Complete University Guide  and top ten placing for overall student satisfaction in the National Student Survey.

Overall, the University of Surrey was named 11th by The Times/Sunday Times, which rates performance in a number of key areas including the quality of teaching and academic feedback, course content, facilities and the quality of research.

Professor Susan Lanham-New, Head of the Department of Nutritional Sciences said, “We are celebrating the 50th anniversary of teaching Nutrition and Dietetics at Surrey this year, and we are delighted with our second place ranking in the UK for our discipline. Our Nutrition and Food Science programmes are expanding - we know there is a good job market out there for our graduates.”
