University of Surrey awarded grant to improve support for carers of people with psychosis
The University of Surrey and collaborators have been awarded over £520,000 to research how to improve the support for people caring for a friend or family member with psychosis via social care.

The 30-month project, which begins in September, is among the first to be funded under the National Institute for Health and Care Research’s (NIHR) new funding stream, the Research Programme for Social Care (RPSC).
Surrey researchers, with collaborators at City St George’s, University of London, and the University of Kent, will partner with local authorities and third sector organisations to deliver the project. At the centre of the research is the voice of the carers: the researchers will be working with psychosis carers and the people they care for, to co-design resources and actions to better meet their unique needs.
We’re so excited to have been awarded funding for the OSMOSIS project – it really gives us the opportunity to engage with a wide range of carers and involve them in co-producing truly meaningful and useful support resources for themselves.Dr Jacqueline Sin, Professor of Mental Health Nursing at City St George’s, University of London, and co-principal investigator of the project
