University of Surrey cements its top 10 position for student satisfaction in National Student Survey 2023

The University of Surrey is celebrating its latest accolade as one of the top universities in the country for student satisfaction following the publication of the National Student Survey (NSS) 2023 results.

Surrey achieved an overall student positivity score of 85.3%* in the NSS 2023, ranking the University 4th in the UK when the headline score is compared to the other institutions normally included in the Guardian University Guide League Table.

This result represents a trend of significant year-on-year improvements in official measures of student satisfaction over the last three years. Building on insights gained from last year's survey, the University has continued to improve facilities and enhance services for students.

Over the last year, the University of Surrey has:

  • improved study spaces, classrooms and laboratories

  • launched digital tools to aid students' learning engagement and

  • made it easier for students to access welfare and support services.

Commenting on the NSS results, Professor Max Lu, President and Vice-Chancellor of the University of Surrey, said:

"Providing exceptional education and support to our students is one of our strategic priorities.  This tremendous result is testament to the dedication and collaboration of our entire university community. I want to take this opportunity to thank all our staff for their hard work and commitment.

"While we are proudly celebrating this fantastic success, we will also need to identify areas for further improvement.  We will keep promoting excellence in teaching and student experience so that our graduates will go on to successful careers and be leaders of the future in shaping a better society."

Professor Osama Khan, Pro-Vice-Chancellor, Academic, at the University of Surrey, said:

"Our fantastic outcome in this year's NSS is another example of the power of collaboration. Everyone at the University, our staff, students and the Students' Union, are all pulling in one direction to help deliver an outstanding education and student experience."
