Want to learn more about immunotherapy? Free public event will help shed light on innovative treatment

Members of the public are invited to attend the event on Thursday 24^th September to learn more about advances in the pioneering treatment. The event, led by Dr Nicola Annels, will deliver invaluable insight into cancer-fighting viruses, the role of the microbiome in treatment response and interestingly the positive effect exercise can play in supporting treatments.  

Those in attendance will also get a chance to learn more about clinical trials at the university and hear from participants about their experiences.  

Dr Nicola Annels, a Senior Research Fellow at the University of Surrey, said: 

“Whilst the concept of immunotherapy has been around for  over a century, its use in oncology has emerged in recent years as an important treatment option for many different cancer types. 

“As cancer diagnoses continue to rise, it is important that more people are aware of immunotherapy and how it works. We would encourage everyone to come and join us at our event and to meet our team, who are leading the way in this field.” 

Rounding off the proceedings in the evening will be Topic of Cancer, who will discuss more about their work and how they support research into immunotherapy.
