General talks and tours

Our general talks and tours help you understand the bigger picture of studying at Surrey.

From admissions advice and student finance to placements, study abroad and student life, these sessions are designed to answer the practical questions that matter most.

You don’t need to pre-book — simply check the schedule in the programme and join the session that works for you. Spaces are available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Subject talks and facilities tours

Your subject talk is the heart of your open day experience.

This is where you’ll discover:

  • What you’ll learn
  • How you’ll be taught
  • How your subject connects to placements and future careers.

You must pre-book your subject talk when you book your Surrey open day place. Your e-ticket will confirm your selected talk(s) and includes entry for you and one guest.

Book your session

See your subject in action

Many subjects include a facilities tour immediately after the talk, giving you the chance to explore the labs, studios, classrooms or clinical spaces you’ll use as a student.

If your subject includes a tour straight after the talk, your booking covers both.

For other subjects, facilities tours run separately. You’ll need to collect a free tour ticket from the relevant tour desk on the day before the tour begins.

Drop-in subject areas

You can also visit subject drop-in areas where you can:

  • Speak directly with lecturers
  • Ask detailed questions about modules, assessments and placements
  • Meet current students.

Locations may occasionally change, so we recommend checking your printed programme and any on-the-day updates for the correct room.
