Biography
Chris Mahon is an experienced business school academic, entrepreneur and leader, specialising in developing and delivering programmes designed to help individuals and organisations reach their potential and achieve their goals. Chris recently joined Surrey Business School in the role of MBA Programmes Director, and is currently responsible for the growth and continuous improvement of the Surrey MBA.
Prior to coming to Surrey, Chris worked for 11 years at Nottingham University Business School, where he developed a strong reputation for MBA and MSc programme design and leadership, as well as a proven track record of innovative teaching. Chris created and delivered one of the UK’s first PG modules in social entrepreneurship, and has excelled as a lecturer and MBA leader since 2006. Chris was awarded Nottingham University’s prestigious Lord Dearing Award in 2012 in recognition of excellence and innovation in teaching.
Chris is also a well-connected practitioner with over two decades of experience in the creation and management of organisations across multiple sectors. Chris has founded successful businesses in both the US and the UK, the most recent being a social enterprise dedicated to supporting the development and growth of public sector spin-outs.
Chris also currently serves as Chairman of Nottingham CityCare Partnership, CIC, an award winning and innovative healthcare social enterprise. CityCare works in partnership with Clinical Commissioning Groups, the Nottingham City Council, and other stakeholders to deliver over 60 community-based health and well-being services in the city and the county.
