My research project
Navigating and Mediating Diversity: Indonesian Parents' Responses to Disney's Progressive Representation in Children's MediaThis research cross-fertilises sociology of parenting, audiences, children's media, and Disney studies to understand how parents as audiences from the Global South make sense of the diverse representation in Disney contemporary media. By using "text-in-action" observation and in-depth interview in Indonesia, this study aims how parents conceptualise representation and negotiate their relationship with Disney. This research also explores access, parental perception of the company, and how all of the above factors shape their mediation practices.
