Why did you choose to study your course at Surrey?

I chose Surrey because the course matched exactly what I was looking for - a mix of finance, technology, and policy that feels really relevant to today’s world. Plus, the campus is stunning! The greenery, the lake, and peaceful surroundings really made Surrey feel like the right place for me to grow academically and personally.

What are the best things about Surrey and your course?

The course is really practical and up to date; we get to explore real-world case studies and tools used in the industry, which makes learning feel meaningful. Surrey itself is amazing too; the campus is beautiful and so calming. Studying here doesn’t feel stressful because the environment is so positive and welcoming.

What are the best things about life here as a postgraduate student?

Postgraduate life at Surrey has a great balance: you get the focus and support you need, but there’s also space to relax and connect with others. I love how peaceful the campus is; walking by the lake or studying outside on a sunny day makes a big difference to my routine and mindset.

What are your career plans?

I plan to work in the FinTech or financial consulting space, focusing on innovation and policy. I’d love to be part of projects that use technology to make finance more inclusive and efficient. Surrey’s environment - both in the classroom and on the beautiful campus - has helped me stay focused and motivated toward that goal.

What advice do you have for students thinking of doing this course?

If you’re even slightly interested in where the future of finance is heading, this course is for you. FinTech is one of the most in-demand fields right now, and it’s only growing. 

What I love most is how thoughtfully the modules are designed - they don’t just teach you theory, they build real, industry-relevant skills from the ground up. Whether it’s learning how blockchain works, understanding digital currencies, or exploring how policy shapes innovation, you’ll come out of this course with a toolkit that employers are actively looking for. 

It’s challenging at times, but incredibly rewarding. And being surrounded by Surrey’s peaceful and inspiring campus helps you stay motivated and focused on your goals.
