Veterinary Medicine and Science

"I've wanted to be a vet ever since I was little. When I was deciding where to apply to study, the School of Veterinary Medicine at Surrey had a completely different feel to every other university I visited. Not only was the campus buzzing, the enthusiasm of the staff was contagious.

The diversity of the course structure really appealed to me. The ‘hands-on from day one’ approach was one of the reasons why I came to Surrey - and the course really is hands-on from day one!

The first few weeks of University were incredible, and included visits to farms, zoos, the RSPCA and time in pathology labs.

Getting out of the lecture theatre and listening to heart beats and taking temperatures makes all the theory relevant to real-life veterinary medicine.

Both the academic and non-academic facilities, like the Surrey Sports Park, are amazing. There is a huge range of equipment and the new vet school buildings are going to be fantastic!

"Noel Fitzpatrick is one of my idols, so knowing that Fitzpatrick Referrals is one of the University’s partners is really exciting."

I was apprehensive about moving into University halls with strangers and being away from my parents, however, it’s been such a great experience.

I’ve gained so much independence, learnt a lot of home skills and made some great friends. Guildford is an amazing place to live, and great for shopping and nightlife.

The University has so many clubs and societies that you can join too; there really is something for everyone."
