What were the best things about your course?

The best thing about my course was the ability to learn other instruments from classmates. If you ever wanted to expand your skillset as a musician you were able to get together and share your techniques. Having the facilities at arm's reach was a dream.

What do you do now? How did your degree from Surrey help you achieve this?

I have been able to do a mixture of things since graduating which I'm really grateful for - from Apple TV to National Theatre, and also as a working pit musician.

Having my degree made me more prepared and confident going into any audition or meeting, and I felt like I was worth anyone's time with the training I had accomplished at the university.

What’s your advice to current students?

My advice is to never stop being productive, big or small. Always try and stay in a creative, motivated headspace. You can say 'no' to stuff; don't just jump at the first thing that hits you. Lastly don't stress if nothing is coming through straight away. I waited six months before I got my first contract through.
