Lily Webb

Lily is an engineering leader shaping the future of nationally significant transport infrastructure.  As the Strategic Asset Replacement Lead and a member of the Engineering Senior Leadership Team at London Gatwick, she helps define the airport’s long-term infrastructure investment and asset replacement strategy, ensuring critical assets continue to support safe, resilient and sustainable operations. 

Lily studied MEng Civil Engineering at Surrey and graduated with first class honours. Whilst at university, she was a scholarship student on the Surrey/ICE Scholarship scheme, gaining 18 months of industry experience across a variety of industry sectors, including overseas site visits in the United States, United Arab Emirates, and Hong Kong. These experiences sparked a passion for contributing to the future of critical infrastructure and leading diverse teams to deliver meaningful outcomes for customers, communities and industry.  Lily has continued to support the Scholarship scheme, delivering keynote speeches to prospective scholars at the Institution of Civil Engineers and sharing lessons from a career that has helped deliver improvements to transport networks for millions of passengers.

Throughout her career, Lily has combined engineering, design and project management expertise to plan and deliver major infrastructure upgrades across the aviation and transport sectors. Her work has included leading renewal and modernisation programmes at London Gatwick, London City Airport and Transport for London, improving safety, reliability, operational resilience and transforming customer journeys.  She has gained a variety of experience across transport modes, including the London Underground, London Trams, Woolwich Ferry, London Cable Car and Cycle Hire scheme, in addition to complex airport environments.

Lily's contributions have been recognised through numerous industry and employer awards, including being named as Infrastructure Graduate of the Year whilst working for AtkinsRéalis. She has also been shortlisted for both the Women in Rail Awards and WeAreTheCity’s Rising Star Awards for her achievements in engineering, leadership and infrastructure delivery.  A passionate advocate for developing future talent, Lily has served on the University of Surrey's Civil Engineering Industrial Advisory Board for over a decade, helping to shape degree programmes that prepare students for successful careers in industry.
