I would really recommend doing a professional training placement for those considering it. It gives you such a great insight into what you want to do in the future. It also builds you as a person and increases your confidence so much.

Course

Placement company
Hand Picked Hotels

As part of my Professional Training placement, I am a Digital Marketing Assistant at Hand Picked Hotels in Sevenoaks. I manage the brand level accounts on all social media platforms, as well as overseeing the individual hotels’ social media accounts. I make sure that all the content is correct and up-to-date, and I assist with online advertising and work a lot with Facebook Ads.

My confidence has grown massively. I used to be unsure of speaking to people on the phone and now it’s second nature to me. I think that before my placement, I use to rely on direction from other people, but now I know I can trust in my own initiative and get creative with tasks. My work ethic and drive for success have also grown and I know my job role like the back of my hand, which is great!

My favourite thing about my placement is that I get to travel to lots of different hotels in different locations across the UK and get to stay for free whilst I’m working.

I’ve always been interested in media but wasn’t sure whether I was leaning towards the public relations or marketing side. I’ve looked into the public relations aspect a lot and I’ve learnt that in the future I’d want to do a mixture of the two.

During the last six months, I have managed to gain 1,604 followers on our Instagram account, which I’m really proud of.

Hand Picked Hotels has offered me a job after I graduate, which is amazing as they’ve been doing placement roles for the last 13 years and have never offered anyone else a job before!

In the long term, I’d like to explore the show business aspect of media, maybe being a publicist and having some involvement in events planning, which my PTP has really helped with. My networking skills have developed four-fold, which is really useful too.

I would really recommend doing a professional training placement for those considering it. It gives you such a great insight into what you want to do in the future. It also builds you as a person and increases your confidence so much. It’s excellent to be thrown in at the deep end, as it makes you develop so much quicker.
