Surrey and GAS Children Stargazing event October 2026

Join us at the University of Surrey for a special stargazing evening designed for primary school children and their parents or guardians!

Have you ever wondered what the Moon looks like up close, how to spot planets in the night sky, or what distant galaxies and colourful nebulae look like? Come along and explore the wonders of the Universe with us!

During this family-friendly event, children and adults will have the opportunity to observe the night sky through small telescopes, with help from experienced astronomers. We'll also use Seestar smart telescopes to capture and display images of galaxies, nebulae and star clusters on tablets and smartphones, bringing the distant Universe to life.

No previous knowledge of astronomy is needed – just curiosity and a sense of adventure!

Stargazing is weather-dependent. If the skies are cloudy, we will reschedule.

All children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
