AIR Diversity Scholarship for Tonmeisters 2022 entry

AIR, the globally renowned recording studio, is to fund a new diversity scholarship to one of the most prestigious degree courses in sound recording, here at the University of Surrey.

About

The AIR Diversity Scholarship for Tonmeisters will be worth £30,000 to each student over the course of their degree and is open to those UK students from underrepresented ethnic groups, who may otherwise not have been able to take up a place to study at Surrey. Applicants from a household income of £35k or less will be prioritised for the scholarship. 

Payment of the scholarship will be made in two equal amounts of £5,000. Successful students will be advised of the outcome of their application in October 2022 and the award will be disbursed in two equal payments annually in December and March of each year.

Eligibility criteria

Open to students from the UK who are studying one of the following courses :

  • Music and Sound Recording (Tonmeister) BMus (J931)
  • Music and Sound Recording (Tonmeister) BSc (J931)

Applicants must be from one of the below ethnic groups:

Asian or Asian British

  • Indian
  • Pakistani
  • Bangladeshi
  • Chinese
  • Any other Asian background

Black, African, Caribbean or Black British

  • African
  • Caribbean
  • Any other Black, African or Caribbean background

Mixed or Multiple ethnic groups

  • White and Black Caribbean
  • White and Black African
  • White and Asian
  • Any other Mixed or Multiple ethnic background

Other ethnic group

  • Arab
  • Any other ethnic group

White

  • Roma, Gypsy or Irish Traveller

 Students who can demonstrate a household income of less than £35K will be prioritised.

To apply for this scholarship, students with offers from the University of Surrey should complete all sections of the application form. If you are the holder of an In2Surrey Scholarship offer you are eligible to apply if you meet the stated key criteria.

The deadline for applications for this award is 31 July 2022. Successful students will be advised of the outcome of their application in October 2022.
