ISTAT Foundation Scholarship Program
Contributing to the development of future aviation professionals by providing funds and avenues for students with a keen interest in commercial aviation.
About
The Scholarship Program, overseen by the ISTAT Foundation Scholarship Committee, was established to award scholarships to top-ranking students at universities across the globe who require financial assistance and are interested in pursuing careers in the aviation industry.
Comprised of esteemed professionals from the commercial aviation industry, the Committee is responsible for evaluating applications and approving the final selection of candidates. The program has a predetermined budget set by the Foundation that is awarded on an annual basis.
Eligibility criteria
- Completion of at least one year of undergraduate (bachelor's) studies or enrollment in graduate (master's) or post-graduate (doctoral) studies.
- Minimum United States Grade Point Average (GPA) requirement: 3.0 or above on a 4.0 scale or global equivalent.
- Need for financial support for university tuition-only fees.
- Enrollment in a program related to aviation or a field that supports the aviation industry (such as, but not limited to, aviation finance, aviation law, aeronautical engineering, aviation management, aeronautical science, airline or aircraft marketing, airline or aircraft economics, aviation maintenance, airport management, aviation safety or air traffic control). Please note that applications from candidates with a career goal to become a pilot will not be accepted.
- A clear interest in pursuing a career in the aviation industry.
- Involvement in extra-curricular/community activities indicating leadership qualities.
How to apply
To apply for this scholarship, please submit a statement letter to MSc Air Transport Management Programme Leader Dr Nadine Itani (n.itani@surrey.ac.uk). This letter should outline your eligibility, the reasons you believe you should be selected, and your academic qualifications (e.g., distinction or other relevant achievements).
Shortly after, you will receive confirmation if you have been nominated and receive further details if successfully chosen.

2026 Scholarship process timeline
- 8 December 2025: Nomination and application forms open
- 16 January 2026: Deadline for scholarship nominations
- 6 March 2026: Deadline for scholarship applications
- 9 April 2026: Deadline for committee scoring
- 4 May 2026: Notifications sent to recipients.
