Urban greening 'how to' toolkit for local authorities, councillors and officers

Towns and cities across the UK, Europe, and beyond are increasingly challenged by heat, flooding, pollution, and other environmental pressures that harm people’s health and quality of life. Urban greening—using Nature-based Solutions such as tree planting, ponds, green roofs, and canals—helps create healthier, more sustainable, and climate-resilient places by enhancing biodiversity and improving local conditions. Strategic planning enables communities and local authorities to design and maintain effective green spaces. However, while technical guidance exists, there is currently no accessible public “how-to” toolkit, which this document aims to provide.
