Announcing the publication of Jim Al-Khalili’s new book The World According to Physics
World renowned physicist and celebrated science communicator Professor Jim Al-Khalili has released a fascinating and engaging new book that sheds light on the phenomena in our world that only physics can explain.
The World According to Physics, published by Princeton University Press, looks at the most profound insights revealed by modern physics and invites us all to understand what this all-pervasive science tells us about the Universe and the nature of reality itself.
In his new book, Professor Al-Khalili casts physics as a dynamic and fearless human quest for answers that accurately explain the natural world we see around us, guided by core values such as honesty and doubt as we search for truth.
Professor Jim Al-Khalili, Distinguished Chair, Professor of Physics and Professor of Public Engagement in Science at the University of Surrey, said: “I wanted to write a book about why physics should matter to everyone. In The World According to Physics I explain how physics empowers us all, but it should also humble us as it continues its valiant expedition into the unknown.”
Professor Al-Khalili hosts ‘The Life Scientific’ on BBC Radio 4 and has presented numerous BBC television documentaries. He is also a New York Times bestselling author and a fellow of the Royal Society. He is the author of many books including Quantum: A Guide for the Perplexed; The House of Wisdom: How Arabic Science Saved Ancient Knowledge and Gave Us the Renaissance; and Life on the Edge: The Coming of Age of Quantum Biology.
