Herbicide Reduction Project

The Institute for Sustainability is partnering with Guildford and Waverley Councils to trial different types of herbicide treatments on weeds, with the aim of reducing their use in public spaces. The project team will use part of the Onslow Park and Ride site as a trial area, with the study running from July to December 2026.

This project aims to create more herbicide-free areas across council-managed land, while using chemical treatments only where they are truly necessary. By doing this, the Guildford and Waverly Borough Councils are working towards reducing the overall use of herbicides and supporting more sustainable, environmentally friendly ways of managing our public spaces.

During the project period, parts of the Onslow Park and Ride site may appear untidy at times. We kindly ask for your patience and understanding as the trial progresses. The team will make every effort to keep the area as well-maintained and tidy as possible throughout the project.
