It’s good to talk

Listen out for our student callers in February and March as the University is holding its 16th telephone campaign.

Student talking on the phone, smiling

Donations to our new Forever Surrey Fund have a direct effect on the lives of thousands of students studying at Surrey.

Last year, we awarded £78,000 in hardship grants to nearly 80 students in serious financial need due to unexpected circumstances, such as parental bereavement or sickness.

We delivered 25 bursaries for students from disadvantaged background to complete their training year in industry – a historic part of the Surrey experience – dramatically increasing their employability prospects. We also supported eight student clubs and societies, giving our students the chance to achieve remarkable accomplishments in a range of diverse fields.

If you are called, we hope you will enjoy hearing about University life as it is today. We know the students certainly love hearing about your time at Surrey and what you are doing now.

One of our previous telephone callers, Gillian Light, who studies Veterinary Medicine, said: “I enjoyed my time so much. I got the chance to speak to some really lovely former students about their time here and after leaving Surrey and I feel proud to have raised money for students and societies.”

This year’s campaign runs until 10 March.
