The Surrey MBA gains CMI dual accreditation
The Surrey MBA at the University of Surrey has gained dual accreditation from the Chartered Management Institute (CMI), bringing together postgraduate business education, professional recognition and enhanced career development support. This accreditation is testament to Surrey's commitment to building responsible leaders.
Surrey joins a select group of MBA programmes offering CMI dual accreditation with Chartered Manager embedded in the programme, becoming the first in the South East and London area to offer this combination.
The Surrey MBA students will benefit from CMI Affiliate Membership during their studies and, upon successful completion of the programme, receive a CMI Level 7 Qualification in Strategic Management and Leadership Practice, with an embedded route to Chartered Manager (CMgr) status.
The accreditation enables students to work towards a CMI professional qualification alongside their MBA. It strengthens the connection between academic learning and professional practice, helping students demonstrate their capabilities as managers and leaders.
The development supports Surrey Business School’s mission to shape forward-thinking leaders who combine entrepreneurial creativity with responsible innovation. Built around future-focused technologies, entrepreneurial leadership and responsible business, the Surrey MBA prepares students to advance their careers, transform their organisations and contribute positively to society.
Students will become CMI Affiliate Members for the duration of their course, with full access to CMI member benefits and services, including:
- ManagementDirect: CMI’s online learning portal, providing thousands of journal articles, e-books and practical digital resources to support study and professional development.
- Career Development Centre: Access to free CV reviews, online interview training, skills development resources, and thousands of job and internship opportunities.
- Mentoring: Opportunities to connect with a CMI mentor to support their studies or career aspirations, subject to mentor availability.
The Surrey MBA is also accredited by the Association of MBAs (AMBA), an internationally recognised mark of quality in postgraduate management education. The new CMI dual accreditation builds on this foundation, adding professional management recognition and further learning and career development benefits for students.
