Surrey psychology academic awarded 34th Experimental Psychology Society Prize
Dr Jennifer Murphy, senior lecturer in the School of Psychology, has been awarded the Experimental Psychology Society (EPS) Prize for her early-career contributions to the field.
The EPS Prize recognises early-career academics who made have distinguished, independent and original contributions to experimental psychology.
Since completing her PhD at King’s College London in 2020, Dr Murphy has become an internationally recognised expert in experimental psychology. Her research focuses on interoception, the processing of our internal bodily sensations. She is the recipient of numerous awards for her work, including the EPS Frith Award for her PhD in 2020 and the Association for Psychological Science Rising Star Award in 2024.
Dr Rebecca Brewer, Associate Professor at Royal Holloway University London, submitted the nomination for Dr Murphy, praising her for being “an exceptional candidate who exemplifies the very highest standards of early-career achievement”.
The EPS facilitates research in experimental psychology and scientific communication among experimental psychologists and those working in cognate fields. The EPS Prize is awarded annually.
