What might your future careers look like?
Global content and communication manager: Plans and governs multilingual content strategies across platforms, regions, and languages. Ensures consistency, legal compliance, cultural appropriateness, and effective use of language AI tools in international communication.
Localization project/programme manager: Leads complex multilingual and localisation projects involving human and AI resources to ensure content is adapted to regional or local needs. Oversees workflows, vendors, platforms, quality control, and institutional stakeholders in large-scale multilingual operations.
Language solutions architect, language consultant: Advises large organisations (e.g. UN, EU, courts, NHS, global companies) on global/multilingual communication strategy, language policy, workflow design, and responsible AI integration. Typical tasks include needs analysis in relation to language and communication, language technology strategy, quality frameworks, and organisational change management in multilingual settings.
Language technology specialist/strategist: Evaluates and implements language AI systems (transcription, machine translation, other language AI tools) in institutional environments, ensuring regulatory compliance. Defines use cases, quality thresholds, risk profiles, and governance frameworks for AI-supported communication in high-stakes contexts. Devises strategies that minimise risks from language AI tools and ensure reputational safety in external/client-facing communication.
Communication quality manager: Designs and oversees quality assurance systems for interpreting and multilingual services, including human, hybrid, and AI-mediated workflows. Uses evaluation frameworks, audits, and monitoring systems to manage risk, e.g., in courts, asylum systems, healthcare, and international institutions.
Language policy and language access advisor: Develops and implements language access policies and strategies for public institutions and international organisations. Ensures compliance with legal, ethical, and accessibility requirements in multilingual communication (e.g. in justice, healthcare, public administration).
