Quantum Sciences Group
Our group carries out research primarily to study quantum systems, both theoretically and experimentally, from the formal mathematical foundations of quantum mechanics to its applications in technology.
Welcome from the Head of Group
Welcome to the Quantum Sciences Group. Our interests are in all things ‘quantum’.
Our research covers a number of topics in quantum physics, both pure and applied, and both theoretical and experimental, ranging from the nature of entanglement and decoherence in open quantum systems to quantum technologies such as optoelectronic devices and quantum computing.
Dr Andrea Rocco
Head of Quantum Sciences
Andrea Rocco (MInstP, FHEA, FRSB) graduated in Physics at the University of Pisa (Italy) in 1994, discussing a thesis in quantum field theory. In 1998 he obtained his PhD in Physics from the University of North Texas (USA), where he focused on the role of stochastic processes in classical and quantum mechanical systems.Between 1998 and 2007 Andrea held postdoctoral positions at ...
