Ion beam modified membranes for nanoelectronics
A focused ion beam strains the target material due to the ions from the beam implanting into the material, causing the crystal lattice of the sample to be expanded. This can allow strain to be modified within silicon membranes. Applications of this includes optoelectronic energy devices.
