Course

Structural Engineering MSc

Entry year

2018

"I chose to study this course because of my job, which required advanced training in structural engineering. I chose the University of Surrey because the course content for MSc Structural Engineering was clear and straightforward. It also has a high reputation in the field of engineering, making it the best choice. I also previously studied BSc Civil Engineering at Makerere University in Uganda and obtained a masters in Project Planning and Management from the Uganda Management Institute.

"I believe I have changed since I’ve started at Surrey. My attitude towards work and study has improved greatly, especially my research skills."

Structural engineering brings into reality what individuals and architects envision and ensures it can stand the test of time. I enjoyed learning new things because they provided a deeper understanding of the knowledge I acquired at undergraduate level.

I like the University of Surrey’s Library because it gives you 24/7 access to all resources, whether you’re at or away from University premises. All the academic staff have also been very passionate about the modules they teach.

I chose to live in University accommodation as it provides an environment to interact with other postgraduate students pursuing different courses. I found the accommodation very good because it’s close to all the other facilities at the University that one may need access to. I have enjoyed Guildford because it provides access to many things including social activities and it’s very close to London. The best thing about life at Surrey is that all student services are easily accessible. The University also has a lot of extracurricular activities and clubs that you can get involved in.

I believe I have changed since I’ve started at Surrey. My attitude towards work and study has improved greatly, especially my research skills. After I graduate, I plan to return to my home country and use the skills I have acquired to execute my work at the Ministry of Works and Transport in Uganda. My time at Surrey has improved my employability because of the great reputation that the University of Surrey and the United Kingdom both have in the world."
