What attracted you to choose the University of Surrey and to study your course here?
What initially attracted me to the University of Surrey was the University’s outstanding reputation and high rankings in multiple university league tables. In addition to this, one of the University’s principles “diversity” was what made me choose Surrey. Being able to meet different people from different backgrounds was important to me. Furthermore, the interesting and diverse range of modules played a crucial role for my choice. Also, the fact that it was so close to London (30 minutes by train) played a vital role in my decision.

What is your strongest memory of your time at Surrey?
I have many wonderful memories that I will carry and cherish with me for all my life from my time at Surrey. However, the first thing that comes to my mind when I think of Surrey would be the magnificent environment and picturesque scenery both at the University and in the city of Guildford. It was truly a wonderful University and town to be in!

What were the best things about your course?
I would say that one of the best things in my course were the outstanding lecturers, how they were all great at teaching and delivering their modules and how extremely supportive they were throughout the whole course. The course had many different and diverse modules which made you see the world of marketing from different angles and perspectives. The fact that we were given real life examples and case studies helped immensely to prepare for our future careers and see how things work in practice not just in theory.

"It was helpful how some assignments were completed in groups, which gave us the chance to advance our team-working skills."

What do you do now and what do you find the most enjoyable about your line of work?
I am currently a PhD student at the University of Reading. What I enjoy the most about this role is the fact that through my research I learn something new everyday (within the marketing context), and also the fact that it has broadened my horizons.

How did your time at Surrey help you choose what career to go into?
At the University of Surrey I extremely enjoyed the dissertation process and I liked how I was learning new concepts everyday independently. This was one of the many reasons I decided to embark upon a PhD.

What are your top tips for students aspiring to work in your profession?
I guess my top tips for someone wanting to undertake a PhD would be to be hard working and patient in order to achieve outstanding results.

Do you have any other comments you’d like to offer about your time at Surrey or life after university?
I would like to thank the University of Surrey for giving me this opportunity to undertake my Marketing Management MSc at such an outstanding and great university! Furthermore, I would like to thank all the lecturers (in Marketing) who were extremely helpful and supportive throughout my time here. I would most definitely recommend the Marketing Management MSc course at the University of Surrey for anyone who wants to truly learn and wants to have an exceptional experience. Wonderful things [did] happen here!
