“This course is eye-opening for how things work and why everything is the way it is, so if that interests you then Physics with Nuclear Astrophysics could be right up your street.”
What do you like about your course and why?
All the content on course is incredibly interesting; it takes everything you know about the world and explains how and why it came to exist. We investigate the most fundamental principles of maths and physics, which is so exciting, and the lecturers expand beyond the course material to explain not only what you need to pass the exam, but things that are just cool too!
What do you enjoy most about Surrey?
Our campus is amazing. From the lake and the cafes, to the Sportspark and of course the Sir Ronald Wates spoons, there are so many places to explore with friends and to wind down.
I'm currently President of the Physics Society and I love being both a part of the society and helping to lead it. We have a brilliant sense of community, run events like pub quizzes and stargazing nights and it’s been a great way to connect with people and make friends
“Learning is fun. It's at the centre of our humanity, and furthering your understanding of whatever you study is why you're here.”
What do you want to do when you graduate?
I would love to have a career in space related technologies; all things satellites, rockets, planets, stars, and the frontier of engineering and theoretical physics to send us in to the solar system. I am reaching for the stars in the best way! 🌠🪐
What advice would you give to students thinking of studying your course?
My top piece of advice would be to not just study for the exams. Learning is fun. It's at the centre of our humanity, and furthering your understanding of whatever you study is why you're here. Of course, you want to get a good grade, and you should go for it with maximum effort, but enjoy the learning and don't tunnel vision to the exam.
