How is your first year going?

My first year has been really good. I have met some amazing people who have become good friends of mine. Getting to be part of Surrey Hospitality and Tourism Management has been really interesting and meeting lecturers and people in the industry has been very beneficial. 

I am also part of the Food and Wine Society and the Scandinavian Society, which is lots of fun and great experience. 

University life is better then I expected. Lecturers are much more involved then I thought they would be and give us many opportunities to meet people in the industry. I have met so many great people, both friends and classmates, which is really cool in the course we are studying. 

What's the most interesting thing you've worked on so far?

The most interesting thing I have worked on so far is a report we were writing in our first semester where I had to look at how culture impacts the hospitality industry. I thought this project was interesting and made me learn a lot about different cultures and my own and how culture has a huge effect on how the hospitality and tourism industry operates. 

Have you surprised yourself this year?

A way I surprised myself this year was through how much I'm able to do at the same time but also enjoying it. University life can be stressful, but when I am studying something I enjoy with people I like, I have had a great time.
