Hewlett Packard Enterprise"My favourite thing about my course has been that I’ve been able to learn and test my knowledge not just in marketing but also in subjects such as finance and accounting, human resources and law. It’s allowed me to be more informed of the various departments in the business world, and how they are all relevant and applicable to working life.
Being at a campus university is something I’ve always loved, I like that everything is in the same place and it’s very easy to get around. The University is big, but not overwhelmingly – this was a huge factor for me when it came down to choosing Surrey. It’s also a perk that London is only 35 minutes on the train!
Lakeside coffee shop is the best! In the winter, I enjoy grabbing a hot flat white and making my way up to the newly-refurbished library, or in the summer, grabbing a fresh drink and a snack and sitting by the lake. I also try to get involved in as much student ambassador work as I can. I really enjoy talking to prospective students and telling them how I felt when I was in their position and encouraging them to give Surrey a try.
"I met some incredible people who shared stories and lessons about their experiences."
I took on a Professional Training placement back in 2017, working for Hewlett Packard Enterprise in Bracknell. My biggest achievements during my placement included the creation of an internal magazine, managing a team of 15 interns, working closely with managers and distributing across the HPE UK and Ireland offices. I also met some incredible people who shared stories and lessons about their experiences.
The moment I stepped into Surrey it was like something out of a movie. It felt like home, and from that moment on I knew this was the place for me. The environment is so welcoming, from the staff to the students. The University encourages students to try new things and exploit the opportunities on campus, all the while offering all sorts of support.
