"When I first visited the University of Surrey with my family, I was immediately drawn to it – the campus felt like a community. I could envision myself spending time there, and the view from the cathedral was beautiful.

I also liked that Surrey offered students the option of studying a new language with the Global Graduate Award scheme, as languages have always been very important to me. I found I could study this alongside my degree, so I took up British Sign Language last year, and found that I was completely immersed in not only the language but the culture as well.

"I loved meeting new people from different places and courses"

I lived in Battersea Court during my first year and absolutely loved it! I loved meeting new people from different places and courses and living together for a year; it felt like a big family towards the end. There was always something going on and people around to talk to, which makes living in a new place a lot easier as you are sharing the same experience as those around you.

I remember looking at the Sports Park website before coming to Surrey and was amazed at how much there was on offer. There were so many opportunities to do sports socially which was great for someone like me, so I did a lot of swimming and badminton during my first year. The town centre is also situated close to campus, so it is easy to visit shops and restaurants during the weekends. I like finding new places to study on campus and I definitely enjoy spending time by the lake, whether it’s studying or having a picnic."
