What do you like about your course and why?

I chose Accounting and Finance BSc at Surrey for its wide range of modules; I enjoy that I get to do a great mix of modules. There are more focused ones such as Management Accounting, Financial Accounting, and Tax, as well as ones that help me understand businesses more generally, such as Operations Management and Marketing. 

I particularly enjoyed the Professional Development module in first year; it gave me an understanding of career opportunities available to me. It helped me create the tools which I believe greatly helped me get a Professional Training placement this year. 

All the teachers I've had have been particularly supportive and always available if extra help is needed. 

What do you enjoy most about Surrey?

Surrey has everything you need; living in Guildford means you are surrounded by so many lovely green spaces and still only a 30 minute train journey to London. Guildford has a fun night life, whilst also keeping its safe feeling. 

I enjoy spending my free time by the lake on campus and playing hockey for the university. Being part of a society is lots of fun and has given me the opportunity to make so many great friends. There are always new events to go to on and around campus which I particularly loved as a first year when making new friends. 

What do you want to do when you graduate?

I am not sure what I want to do when I graduate yet; however, I feel as if Surrey has given me every tool I need to go out and explore my options to find the right path for me. I am hoping that my upcoming placement year will help me better understand what I want to do in the future. 

What advice would you give new students?

I highly recommend Accounting and Finance at Surrey. It is a great, well-rounded course where you can learn so much and are surrounded by so many supportive people. The support in Surrey Business School is amazing and has really helped me get through the last couple of years. Accounting and Finance is a great course to choose if you are not sure what you want to do in the future but would like a solid foundation of knowledge to go out into the world with.
