Apply for accommodation - returning students
All returning students are welcome to apply for campus accommodation, however there is a limited number of rooms available.
What you need to know
Returning students are those who have previously studied at the University of Surrey at any level of study including foundation courses.
Accommodation isn't guaranteed
Returning students are not guaranteed accommodation. For exceptions, please review our allocation document (PDF). If you fall outside the guarantee, there is support available to you in your search for housing in the private sector.
When to apply
You can apply for accommodation at any point of the year. However, during term time we are usually at full capacity and room availability is very limited.
Make sure you apply for the correct academic year
You need to ensure you apply for the correct academic year. If you are looking for accommodation starting in September 2026, you must apply for academic year 2026/27. Failing to do so may invalidate your application.
Check your preferences before submitting
You are unable to change your preference online, if you decide that you want to change your preferences please email us at accommodation@surrey.ac.uk and we can change them for you (if you request changes you will not be able to see them online). Please note that you are unable to apply for accommodation in a specific location and each price band can have accommodation across different locations.
Second-semester accommodation 2025/26
We have a limited number of rooms available at this time of year, however, you can still submit an application. If you would like to apply for a room starting from the second semester, February 2026 please state this on your 2025/26 application.
