Biography
Dr Tijana Blanusa is a Principal Horticultural Scientist at the Royal Horticultural Society (RHS), where she leads the Ecosystem Services Research Programme. Her work explores how plant traits can support healthier urban environments through cooling, rainfall mitigation, air-quality improvement and biodiversity enhancement. Based at the University of Reading, she also teaches and supervises students across undergraduate, MSc and PhD levels. Her current research includes hedges, green walls and sustainable planting choices for greener, more resilient spaces.
Dr Bethan Mead
Lecturer in the Department of Psychology at the University of Liverpool
Biography
Dr Bethan Mead is a Lecturer in the Department of Psychology at the University of Liverpool, working with the Appetite and Obesity Research Group. Her research combines psychological and food-systems perspectives to understand eating behaviour, sustainable diets, food security, and the links between environment, health and wellbeing. She also explores consumer and stakeholder perceptions of urban-grown food, including barriers to its wider acceptance. This work builds on her previous UKRI-FSA Fellowship under the Transforming UK Food Systems Strategic Priorities Fund and her postdoctoral research with the Rurban Revolution project, where she examined the health and dietary impacts of urban agriculture.
